The Croatian island of Brač is located in the Adriatic Sea, opposite the city of Split. Covering 396 km², it is the largest of the Dalmatian islands and, after Krk and Cres, the third largest island in the Adriatic. Vidova Gora, Brač’s highest peak, rises to 780 metres, making it the tallest mountain in the Adriatic. The island is renowned for its cheese (especially goat cheese), wine, and olive oil. Limestone is a key export from Brač, and in the past, it was extensively quarried. This stone has been used in famous buildings such as Diocletian’s Palace in Split and the Canadian National Memorial in Vimy, France.
