Search for campsites in the Brioni-islands

The Brioni Islands, known as Brijuni in Croatian, are located off the west coast of Istria in Croatia, between the towns of Rovinj and Pula. The group consists of two larger islands, Veliki Brijun and Mali Brijun, along with twelve smaller islands. Together, they form the Brijuni National Park. The islands are accessible by boat from Fažana and are renowned for their natural beauty. In the early 20th century, the islands were a popular retreat for the Viennese aristocracy, including the imperial family, and were once considered part of the Austrian Riviera until the First World War. The islands continued to attract visitors, becoming the summer residence of Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito. Many world leaders and film stars visited the islands during this time, including Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Sophia Loren, and Gina Lollobrigida. Foreign dignitaries often brought exotic animals as gifts, leading to the creation of the safari park on Veliki Brijun. Read more
