Search campsites in Dieppe

Looking for a campsite in Dieppe? Dieppe is located in Normandy at the mouth of the River Arques, where it flows into the English Channel. The city’s name likely comes from the Vikings, who called the Channel “the Deep.” Dieppe was first mentioned in records in 1030. During the Hundred Years’ War, it was a significant stronghold for both sides. In the 16th and 17th centuries, colonists departed from Dieppe—then France’s most important port—to establish colonies in North America. Throughout history, Dieppe has often been a strategic target in times of conflict. In 1694, the city was destroyed by an Anglo-Dutch bombardment. During World War II, Dieppe played a notable role as well: in 1942, the Allies attempted to land in German-occupied Dieppe, but the operation was unsuccessful. The city was eventually liberated in 1944. Read more

Tourist Dieppe

In the late 19th century, Dieppe became a popular seaside destination for British visitors. After being rebuilt in a classic French style following the bombardment in 1694, the town attracted many tourists—and it will probably appeal to you too! Today, there are several campsites and motorhome pitches in and around Dieppe. Its location, right on the coast, makes it a wonderful place to stay. Dieppe is part of the Côte d’Albâtre, famous for its striking white chalk cliffs, which rise to around 100 metres. The town is also renowned for its scallops, as well as for the fresh fish and seafood delivered daily to Parisian restaurants via the port of Dieppe. It’s a true haven for food lovers!
