Tuscany
This region has long been one of the most popular destinations in Italy, and for good reason. Tuscany is perfect for a relaxing beach holiday, but it also attracts visitors throughout the year. The region’s cultural, rolling hills have an irresistible charm all year round.
Types of Campsites in Florence
It’s no surprise that the area around the romantic city of Florence is home to many small, charming campsites. These cosy sites let you hold onto Florence’s romantic atmosphere just a bit longer. Of course, there are also plenty of larger campsites with all the facilities you could wish for, perfect for a family holiday.
Most campsites are located just outside Florence, but you can also opt for a city campsite. Camping Michelangelo is a great example, conveniently located just a ten-minute walk from the historic centre. Here, you can rent a motorhome pitch or choose a bungalow tent.
Sights and Attractions
The entire city of Florence feels like an open-air museum, with every street corner full of character and history. Some of the highlights include:
· The Ponte Vecchio
This iconic bridge over the River Arno connects both sides of the city. While many bridges in Florence were destroyed during World War II, the Ponte Vecchio survived. The bridge is lined with small shops, mostly jewellers.
· The Duomo
The city’s most famous landmark, dating back to the fifteenth century. Its red dome is instantly recognisable.
· The David
The city’s most renowned statue, crafted by Michelangelo. You can admire it in the Galleria dell’Accademia.
· Giotto’s Bell Tower
This striking bell tower is decorated with green, pink, and white marble from the region. Climb to the top for breathtaking views of Florence.

Each has its own unique character, and many remain untouched by mass tourism. If you’re staying in or near Florence, don’t miss the chance to explore the beautiful countryside and discover these hidden gems.
